More Strikes In Paris
More strikes to hit France and Paris, heaviest looking to be on November 14. RATP and SNCF - the most commonly used transit systems are the big losers. Oops, yes, I mean that. Here is a section from the linked article on Bloomberg:
"Anne-Marie Idrac, president of the SNCF, wrote to all 160,000 employees of the railroad to outline the latest proposals, which include pay increases for those working beyond 55 years, the SNCF's current retirement age."
Yes, that says that people don't think they should have to work beyond 55. The state should pay for their pension/retirement until they kick, which is what now, on average - about 79.8?
Anyway, travelers to Paris and France need to be prepared to travel alternatively. RATP says they will operate at about 10% of normal on many lines - bus/rer/metro on Thursday. Many SNCF lines throughout France will be disrupted, but from Paris, many will go as usual.
