Epic Day on the Tour de France
The Tour is all aflutter again this year, so many leaders, and so many unexpected persons in yellow. Its kind of fun to watch though since its hard to know who might emerge on any stage. Just when you think someone should be attacking, it isn't and it is someone else. Team CSC is either very crafty, or rather screwed up. Today's stage traded their tour leader to another team mate as tour leader. Carlos Sastre took off and finished well in front of everyone else including his teammates the Schleck bros. Apparently, the brothers were ok with it, and drove their mini group hard to give Sastre an advantage. The time trial will put the nail in this one if Sastre can hold off Evans to less than his minute plus advantage.
A report on NPR today played nicely, but not surprisingly the report had to include a mention of the few doping problems on this year's tour. As far as I'm concerned, its a non-issue. The cheaters have been caught and thrown out, and it has hardly deterred the ambiance. In fact, I would say that this year's tour is much less about doping than any recent memory.
