New Cycling Jerseys Are Here!

The new Discover France Adventures 'kits' are in! Jerseys, shorts, and bib shorts are available at prices just over cost. This is not a profit center item, we want jerseys on the road so we are just covering costs; so the prices are very good. This is high quality gear made by Sugoi, the same company that outfits our top rated amateur youth development team, Team Waste Management.

The design is very cool too! We use our custom logos and unique logo color combination but we have kept the graphics to a minimum. For fun, we stuck a baguette, wine bottle, and camembert (cheese) in the back pockets! Its France afterall!! On the collar it says Bonjour and Au Revoir! The material is lightweight and light colors so will keep you cool; and looking very cool!

Also on this page that is linked above are some new T-shirts! Of course they too are very stylish and sold at just over cost. Different options are available. Some nice white Ts to our blue/green T, and our night club black T.

Enjoy!

Heat Wave In France

Heat wave hits France

It’s been over a week now that we have been having an unusually hot weather throughout the country, especially in southern France. From Bordeaux to Nice, temperatures are over 35°C, even reaching the 40°C mark (104°F) . In our office in Lunel, the temperature has been around 37-38°C, and except for checking the temperature, there is no need to look at the weather forecast: it’s always a big blue sky with no clouds in the horizon!

A few départements have been put under “vigilance orange”, a level 3 weather alert due to the heat. Nearly all southern départements are on level 2 “vigilance jaune”, and are only a few degrees short of being put under the level 3 alert. Among those in level 3 are the Vaucluse and Drôme départements in Provence. So for all of you cycling or hiking, here are some tips to enjoy your tour without suffering from this heat:

- wear light cotton clothes, wicking clothing

- under the helmet, you can put a cap, hat, or wet bandana to protect your head from the sun. You can also wet it to keep you cool.

- try to leave earlier in the morning to avoid cycling when it’s the hottest (between 12pm and 4pm)

- make sure you always have water with you before you leave, and don’t wait until you are thirsty to drink.

- to help stay hydrated, you can also eat melon, watermelon, grape, plums among other fruits.

- to fill your water bottle, you can stop at a café. Some may ask you to pay for it, so make sure you have some change with you. If you find a fountain in a village, make sure it’s written drinkable water (“potable” in French).

- always wear sunscreen. It’s best to put it 20mn before sun exposure.

Feedback 2009

I feel like tooting our horn. Our staff has worked really hard this year and they like to get a good pat on the back once in a while. These customers have all sent in comments recently; and its great to hear. We didn't expect a big year in 2009, what with all the bad economic news, but it turned out just the opposite. We've had a record breaking year in terms of sales; go figure!

So, for the staff - way to go!

"Just wanted to let you know, [my client] and his son, had a WONDERFUL Biking Trip to France!
Thank you so much for all your hard work on this booking, {Maggie}……………you really are the BEST!"

"Bonjour Laura – I just wanted to thank you for such a wonderful time we all had this past week. I can honestly say that it was the best trip we have ever had as a family and the experience was just amazing."

"Hello Jessica. We got back yesterday from the bike trip to Provence through Discover France. We had a wonderful time and I wanted to let you know that it was a fabulous experience. Your operation was very well organized."

"Loren,Everything is excellent. Your guides Michel, Julien and Sebastian are doing everything to make our trip unforgetable. We are having a great time. It is a good group of strong riders. This trip has helped me become a better cyclist."

"My fiance and I did a bicycle self guided trip last month. It was one of the best traveling experience ever! We absolutely loved it.
The hotels we stayed were beautiful, clean, and just so special. And our luggage was always there waiting for us. The dinners that were included were above our expectations. Les Petits Dejeuners were also great!
And the bicycling, it was just right, enough to get tired at the end of the day, with enough energy left over for a late dinner. The scenery was gorgeous, we visited one chateau a day, plus stopping for breaks, lunch, and pictures.
I have and will recommend the Discover France bike tour to anyone who likes to do this type of thing!
Thank you to Sebastien in Tours, who helped us when we couldn't find a taxi to our hotel. It was so good to have someone locally to help us.

Again, mille mercis, and I would love to do this again!"

“We had a fantastic time, and having traveled to many locations around the world, my partner and I are in agreement that the multisport tour was a trip of a life time. “
