Chateau du Haut Koenigsbourg Renovations

The Chateau du Haut-Koenigsbourg is one of the gems of the medieval castles in France. It was build in the 12th century. In 2009, it remains in the top ten of the most visited historical monuments in France!

Starting in February and planned to last for 3 years, the castle will be completely restored in order to maintain its quality, preserve and even improve it. What is more, the site will be compliant with the latest security rules (voted by the French government). The last time the Haut Koenigsbourg was completely restored was from 1900 to 1908. Total cost for this new work: 10 millions euros.

Luckily, the castle will remain open all the time, it was already stunning, it should be even better! See wikipedia for more history. (Picture from Wikipedia)

Reminder: you can see this castle when you do our hiking tour in Alsace.

Paris Nice 2010

The program has been announced on the 29th of January, and can be viewed at:
http://www.letour.fr/indexPNC_us.html

The route bends a little west this year through the Loire Region to Limoges before turning back to the east in a gradual descent down the country of France and into the "Cote d'Azur" at Nice. That's a trip through some typically cold country late winter to the warm and sunny Med coast. 7 stages and a prologue that see over 200km in just about every stage. There is some climbing too! The race starts March 7 just outside Paris and finishes in Nice on March 14.

Not coincidentally, but specifically in conjunction with Paris-Nice, we are offering some early season guided cycling tours on the French Riviera to ride the sunny region and see the end of Paris-Nice. Check out the program on this page of our Cycling Classics Site: http://www.cyclingclassics.com/riviera.php This trip is a guided program and priced at an amazing price of 1595 euros! It is low season, airfares are cheap, and the Mediterranean coast is usually a nice warm place to be in March!
